The Role

Pembroke is seeking an enthusiastic and suitably experienced individual to undertake the permanent role of Music Assistant. Reporting to the Head of Music – Curriculum and the Director of Music Performance, this role is responsible for providing coordination and support of the School’s Music Library, instruments, musical equipment and teaching and rehearsal areas. In addition, they will support the successful planning and staging of musical events. In collaboration with the Instrumental Music Coordinator, they will provide administrative and coordination support to the broader Music department. 

This role works full time (37.5 hours per week), 41 weeks per year. Some out of hours work, including evenings and weekends, will be required from time to time to support concerts and events.

What will the role involve?

  • Coordinate and administer the School’s collection of musical instruments 
  • Facilitate the booking of shared teaching and rehearsal spaces
  • In collaboration with relevant staff, support the planning and staging of music events
  • As directed, act as Stage Manager for designated music events
  • Maintain catalogue of School’s sheet music and ensure music library is effectively maintained
  • In collaboration with the Instrumental Music Coordinator, provide first point of contact assistance and administrative support for the Music Department. 

What are we looking for?

  • Demonstrated experience in a similar position is highly desirable
  • Knowledge and understanding of the maintenance requirements of a variety of musical instruments
  • Knowledge of sheet music and an understanding of the musical instrument requirements for orchestral arrangements is not mandatory but is highly desirable.
  • Passion for music and the inclusion of music and the Arts in the education of young people
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively engage with young people
  • High level written, verbal and electronic communication skills, coupled with high attention to detail
  • Exceptional organisational skills with the ability to effectively prioritise work and multi-task
  • Naturally collaborative, solutions-focused, positive and diplomatic approach
  • Demonstrated experience in similar position will be advantageous.
