The Women’s & Children’s Health Network provides state of the art health care for women, babies, children and young people across South Australia.  We are the state’s leading provider of specialist care for children with acute and chronic conditions as well as being SA’s largest maternity and obstetric service. 

Our community-based services also reach hundreds of thousands of babies, children and young people, their families and communities across South Australia through our various services and programs in areas such as our Mental Health, Child & Family Health services, Youth Health and Aboriginal Health services.

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity currently exists for a qualified Music Therapist to join our expanding music therapy team. 

We are looking for a self-motivated, compassionate and highly adaptable Music Therapist who is passionate about fostering therapeutic encounters through music and enhancing experiences of care for babies, children, young people and their families within a hospital setting. 

Joining our hospital-wide music therapy service within the allied health department, you will support the development and implementation of music therapy services across hospital spaces and with patient populations including, but not limited to: haematology/oncology, adolescent mental health, medically fragile babies, and paediatric intensive care. This role will have a primary focus on supporting children and young people with a cancer diagnosis and their families.  

As a member of the music therapy team, you will be committed to promoting service values of knowledge sharing, resource building, leadership practice, and professional growth among peers. You will have access to clinical supervision as well as opportunities for ongoing professional development to upskill and nurture your areas of interest. Role Responsibilities:

  • Plan, implement and evaluate a music therapy clinical caseload and to provide professional music therapy input as part of a developing WCH Music Therapy service.
  • Ensure that music therapy services are provided in a way that is consistent with and contributes to the aims of the WCH Music Therapy service and WCHN values.
  • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team of health professionals to ensure best outcomes for patients and families in collaboration with WCHN staff, consumers, and external agencies.
