About the position
Council’s Natural Reserves Department is looking for a Natural Reserves Ranger who will be responsible for delivering flora and fauna maintenance programs within coastal areas. Your main responsibilities will include:
Implementing maintenance programs to enhance biodiversity and horticultural presentation within Natural Reserves and public open space in accordance with best practice flora and fauna management techniques and utilising specialist plant and equipment.
Undertake audits, risk assessments and implement solutions resulting from these to ensure public safety is maintained in parks and reserves and public open space.
Carry out necessary minor infrastructure repairs where appropriate within areas of responsibility.
Carry out any necessary cleansing activities including the collection of litter and removal of graffiti from all open spaces, public spaces and conservation areas within your teams’ control.
Report any park and public space maintenance issues to your team leader.
Assist the Team Leader to undertake on-the-job training of employees under your direction in specialist conservation and land management techniques and safe operation of specialised equipment.
Assist other Council Departments and external agencies in emergency response in areas of expertise such as bushfire response, storm damage and wildlife rescue.
This is a full time role working 38 hours per week. You will be working 8.44 hours per day, 9 day fortnight.
About you
Certificate III or equivalent experience in Natural Resource Management or related discipline.
Experience maintaining and enhancing Parks and Conservation Areas.
A strong understanding of safe work practices.
Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team

This position is a Band 3, currently remunerated between $66,181 to $70 010 per annum, plus superannuation. Salary level will be based on the experience level of the candidate. Overtime will also be paid as required.
