The Role
The Navy Psychology Assistant position is responsible for:
- Office management including making appointments, providing reception duties, managing psychologist’s diaries, maintaining and managing health files, file management, providing monthly database reports and providing support to mental health training.
- Maintenance of the Defence e-Health System (DeHS), PMKeyS Op Log, and Navy Psychology databases.
- Liaising with Navy personnel, Divisional Staff, and Defence support services including medical, mental health providers and chaplains.
- Administering psychological tests and screens as part of selection, suitability assessments and operational screening for Navy personnel (e.g. test preparation, administration, marketing and recording) under the supervision of a psychologist.
- Managing in-confidence and sensitive information.
The Navy Psychology Section provides psychological support to the Royal Australian Navy uniformed workforce and contributes directly to Navy’s capability and national security. Navy Psychology strengthens the Navy workforce by delivering best-practice resilience, organisational and mental health programs and by working with Navy leadership to optimise members’ performance.
About our Team
The Navy Psychology Coonawarra team provides the full scope of Navy Psychology Services to Fleet Units and the Garrison Shore Establishments at HMAS Coonawarra the beautiful Northern Territory. The team works together to achieve a high standard of psychology service provision, liaising regularly with command elements, health providers and other wellbeing stakeholders.

To be successful in this role, you will require:
- Sound experience in administrative support roles and data management
- Excellent time management & organisational skills
- Good oral communication and inter-personal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively and operate as an effective team member of a small team
- Good attention to detail, and an understanding of managing in-confidence information
