About the facility 

Our major sites include University Hospital Geelong in Geelong's CBD, the McKellar Centre precinct in North Geelong, Barwon Health North in Norlane, and residential aged care facilities spanning the region. Comprehensive mental health, community health and dental services are delivered through various programs across the Barwon South West Region, including Torquay and Colac.

About the role

Barwon Health is seeking suitably qualified Neonatal Nurse Practitioners, endorsed by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, for a newly created role in Maternity and Neonatal services for the Geelong area. This role will be working collaboratively with Paediatric teams and independently providing Neonatal care across the public and private sector, attending to care provision of neonates as well as high-risk births and attendance at Caesarean sections across the public and private maternity services within the Geelong area.

  • 0.25 FTE is required, working with current Neonatal Nurse Practitioner team to cover a Monday - Sunday roster (0800-1700 Monday - Friday and shorter shifts on weekends) with private sector cover Monday - Friday, rostered in conjunction with the Barwon Health Paediatric roster
  • The successful applicants must have the qualifications and extended scope of practice to work independently with the backup of a Paediatrician
  • Responsibilities will vary according to expectation requirements of the role
  • Credentialing and endorsement as a NNP at Barwon Health is an essential selection criteria
  • The standards of care for a Nurse Practitioner focus on four domains, as set out by Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, and encompass Clinical, Education, Research & Leadership skills and knowledge
