The Role
Network Controllers must be able to multi-task and they are required to have excellent communications skills, critical thinking, strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under extreme pressure and in emergency situations.
Network Controllers are required to work on a 24/7 roster with shifts up to 12 hours.
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
- Understanding network operations, including systems, train operations, crew and locomotive rostering and customer service roles;
- Working under supervision – observe qualified Network Controllers perform main and support desk duties;
- Learning and performing network control main and support desk duties under direct supervision; and
- Practice Work Health and Safety and Rail Safety requirements in the workplace.

The successful applicant will be paid in accordance with the current TasRail General Enterprise Agreement 2021, Trainee Train Controller, $39.00 per hour (while training). Once training has been completed the rate of pay progresses to $45.89 per hour.

Further Information
You will need to ensure you are able to meet and maintain medical criteria for a safety critical worker health assessment (Category 1) as prescribed by the National Standard for Health Assessment of Rail Safety Workers.
This includes drug and alcohol screens, colour vision tests and assessments to determine risks associated with cardiac health and sleep apnoea.
