Who are we?
Grady Homes has been building homes in the Townsville region for over 60 years. We are a family business, and the 3rd generation is now starting to shape the business. We are looking for someone who wants a long-term position, who can move forward with the next generation.
What are we looking for?
We are not “set” with an exact role at this stage. Current team members can readily take on new tasks and hand off other tasks depending on the skills and experience we find with our new team member.
You might be an experienced New Homes site supervisor or estimator, or you may have experience in purchasing or project management, or you might just have the transferable skills, and an attitude to gain the knowledge from the team.
You will need to proficient with computers, passionate about producing accurate results and being on top of things rather than leave things to chance, and you will need to be a good time manager.
Our software systems and processes are well developed and easy to learn, even with a minimum of industry experience. More experienced applicants may enjoy the opportunity to work with management to implement more modern estimating/take off software and being sure to make the most of the construction management software that is in place.
Whatever skills you bring, you will understand the value of attention to detail and of getting the little things right. Watch the video below for some insight into why this is so important.
Software Currently in use.
We currently utilise a variety of tools to calculate material quantities.
- Revit
- BlueBeam
- Sage (Timberline) Estimating
- Excel
Scheduling (Construction Management), Purchasing, Job Costing and Budgeting is handled in BuilderTrend.
BuilderTrend also integrates with Xero for Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable etc.
When do we need someone?
We can be flexible with a start date, retirement can wait (a little) for the right person. But ideally, we can get someone settling in with us sooner rather than later.
Your Application.
Obviously, we want to know what work experience you have; have you worked in the home building industry, done any Estimating or drafting, quantity take-offs, Site Supervision, contract administration. We would like to know what software was used and what level of proficiency you had with that software.
Tell us about your transferable skills. Communications skills, logical thinker, organised, people management/supervisory skills, and anything that demonstrates an ability to utilise technical based software.
