About the Position

We have an exciting opportunity based in Perth for an experience Radio Newsreader to step into a 12 month fixed term Maternity Leave Contract. The Newsreader will work closely with the Newsroom Operations Manager, Program Director, Producers and Announcers to ensure on air news content is current, accurate and consistent with brand style.

This role will be responsible for developing, writing and editing on air news bulletins. You will have to maintain the smooth running of news broadcasts by ensuring content is compliant with all broadcast codes of conduct.

The shifts for this role are Monday to Friday 4am – midday.

About You

As this is a 12 month fixed term contract, we are ideally looking for an experienced Newsreader with radio experience and strong technical skills in writing and editing news and traffic bulletins to tight deadlines. You will have a strong interest in news and current affairs and your news reading style will suit the Nova brand.

In addition, this role will require:

  • Experience in using NewsBoss and Zetta (essential)
  • Knowledge of local, national and international news stories affecting the community.
  • Proven ability to work as part of a team and independently.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast paced environment - creating and presenting 1-2 bulletins per hour
  • Accuracy and excellent attention to detail.
  • Effective time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • The ability to communicate effectively both orally and written.
  • Working with a team that loves to hear about your weekends camping (or glamping), celebrates your successes with you and is happy to have some banter at the snack bar.
