The Role
Reporting to the Mining Supervisor - UG, the Nipper is responsible for carrying out tasks to assist in safe and efficient mining operations, such as delivery, pick-up and transport of mining equipment and personnel and other mining tasks as directed by the Supervisor.
- Delivery and pick-up of equipment to and from the development and production areas.
- Delivery and pick-up of personnel to and from the development and production areas.
- Removal of rubbish from underground workings to approved tip areas or recycling areas.
- Assist with the installation of ground support as directed.
- General housekeeping of the work area.
- Ensuring inspections are carried out on all equipment before use.
- Preparing work areas and planning tasks.
- Assessing potential hazards and making the necessary changes to eliminate or control them.
