Treasury is the Australian Government’s leading economic adviser. We have around 1,400 plus employees who work across our offices in Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth.
We are responsible for providing the Government with sound economic analysis and impactful policy advice to achieve strong and sustainable economic and fiscal outcomes for Australians.
The key issues that we provide policy advice on are:
- the domestic and global/international economy
- budget
- taxation
- superannuation
- banking and financial sectors
- foreign investment
- business and industry, including small business
- structural policy
- housing affordability.
Graduates remain an important part of Treasury’s workforce which is why they are actively integrated into all aspects of Treasury from day one.
As a graduate you will contribute to policies that impact our organisation, the Australian people and Australia’s economic landscape. You will work across areas of Treasury to develop policies and be involved in providing well informed, innovative and sound advice on the key issues we work on.
The highly supportive structure of our graduate program means it currently does not support placement in our offices outside of Canberra.
In Canberra however, you will receive over the program’s two-year duration face-to-face learning and development opportunities and access to unique and highly rewarding networking experiences and events, including the Federal Budget – which offers you a high-pressure, fast-paced and challenging environment to hone your skills and capabilities.
As a Treasury Graduate you will be able to work in crucial areas that cover fiscal policy, foreign investment, tax policies, financial services, social policy, small business and domestic and international economic conditions. You will gain experience and exposure to help create policies to shape the future and help make a difference for all Australians.. These attributes will make you a highly valuable member of Treasury and wider Australian Public Service (APS).
Throughout the two-year program you will also have many opportunities to gain exposure to our senior leadership
and executive staff. Treasury celebrates and embraces an inclusive and diverse workforce. Our program is open to exceptional graduates from wide-ranging disciplines and backgrounds which include, but are not limited to:
- economics
- law
- accounting
- data
- statistics
- mathematics
- political sciences.
Candidates from all backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
