Nunkuwarrin Yunti, the foremost Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation in Adelaide aims to promote and deliver improvement in the health and wellbeing of all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their families in the greater metropolitan areas of Adelaide and regional areas to advance their social, cultural and economic status. About the Role
The primary role of the Nurse, Home Visitor is and not limited to:
- Build and maintain relationships with eligible women, their families, team colleagues and community members;
- Utilise the nursing process to provide culturally safe pre-natal and early childhood home visits for women who are eligible for the program and their families in a way that maintains alignment with client centred principles;
- Work with team members to enhance the team’s capacity to remain culturally safe in all aspects of ANFPP work;
- Actively participate in program education and use Reflective Practice in supervision to improve skills in delivering care in line with the program model;
- Maintain accurate client service data, timely input of the data into the Data Collection system and participate in review and analysis of data to ensure Continuing Quality Improvement (CQI).
Selection Criteria
Essential:
- Registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Authority (AHPRA) Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia
- Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander societies and cultures and awareness of issues which may impact on maternal child and family wellbeing
- Ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
- Well developed written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated ability to liaise and network effectively with a range of health professionals and administration staff
- Excellent organisational and time management skills and ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision and show leadership as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
- Ability to function within a complex busy workplace and respond to difficult and/or stressful situations in a calm, sensate and professional manner
- Knowledge, skill and experience in continuous quality improvement processes
- Competence in the use of computer software especially Patient Information Recall Systems (e.g. Communicare, Medical Director) and other databases
- Preparedness to undertake and complete all ANDPP trainings and other workplace trainings as required with a willingness to travel interstate
Desirable:
- Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and/or communities within a community controlled health setting
- Experience om structured evidence-based outcome-focused service models for women, children and families
- Post graduate qualifications in maternal health, child and family health, mental health, public health or related field
