Healthcare Australia is delighted to partner with Mathilda Nepean Private to source their next Mental Health - Nurse Unit Manager. Opened in Feb 2023, nestled in a world-class medical hub at the base of the Blue Mountains in western Sydney, this new 90-bed sub-acute flagship hospital provides specialist healthcare services in rehabilitation, medical, geriatrics, palliative care, and mental health within a purpose-built five-star environment.An opportunity exists for a dynamic, passionate, and motivated Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) to lead a dedicated team of nurses in their 38-bed Mental Health ward.
The NUM works in partnership with the General Manager / Director of Nursing and other senior staff, to ensure the efficient and effective provision of care based on best practice principles within a collaborative and multidisciplinary framework.
The successful applicant will have excellent communication and customer liaison skills with a proven ability to motivate and lead a team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the efficient and effective management of all staff, equipment, and department resources.
- Hands-on responsibility for planning, implementing, and evaluating practices, processes, and services within the department.
- Working closely with the executive team you will help shape organisational strategies and improve service provisions.
- You will use current management practices and principles, and effective interpersonal and leadership skills when supervising and managing ward activities.
- This role encompasses direct care to the ward patients, mentoring staff, and ensuring the smooth delivery of services in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong clinical skillset gained in a hospital setting as a Registered Nurse/ ANUM.
- Well-developed leadership and communication skills, including negotiation and mediation, conflict resolution and problem-solving.
- High level of analytical and report writing skills with a strong focus on quality.
- A passion for mentoring junior team members.
- Registration with the Nurses and Midwives Board of Australia (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse.
- Prior experience nursing within a Mental Health setting.
