About the Job

Duties include:

  • Preparing planting growing media before planting.
  • Planting seeds in media.
  • Grafting plants onto root stock.
  • Controlling and maintain irrigation systems.
  • Operating nursery technical propagation equipment.
  • Monitoring plants for pests and diseases.
  • Applying pesticides to control pests and diseases.
  • Maintaining records.
  • Preparing plants for delivery.
  • Strictly adhering to all WHS, quality and hygiene procedures and protocols.

Skills/Qualifications and Experience Required for the Role

  • AQF Certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training, or AQF Certificate IV (ANZSCO Skill Level 3)
  • Experience in a glasshouse environment, preferably with experience in crop propagation.
  • A good knowledge of nursery practices including planting, grafting, nutrition, pest and disease management.
  • Proven ability to monitor the plant health, identify and investigate issues and make timely reports and recommendations.
  • Good understanding and ability to use relevant glasshouse management   systems including Priva.  
  • Good communication skills and the ability to effectively lead a team.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team.
  • Be outcome focused with a track record of achieving performance, quality and safety targets.
  • Excellent attention to detail, time management and organisational skills;
  • Good IT skills including the use of MS excel and Outlook.
  • Commitment to WHS, quality, hygiene and food safety.

Salary: $63,000 - $65,000 p.a. plus super

To accommodate our continued business growth, a $67 million expansion project has been completed, increasing our production area by 33% and creating an additional 150 jobs onsite. This expansion project brings our onsite operation to 40ha of glasshouse, 2.5ha propagation nursery, 2 large packing facilities and over 800 staff.
