Form of workWe are ready to embark on our bare root harvest and are seeking an experienced Nusery Hand to join our team on a permanent basis. This is an exciting time of the year to join our nursery as it offers a great introduction to the harvesting process of a large production nursery.
It is preferable that you have production nursery experience (and a bonus if you have worked with bare root tree varieties previously), however at minimum you will have a strong knowledge of horticulture and wholesale nursery experience.
You will bring a motivated, positive approach to your role and thrive on working within a friendly team environment. As we work predominantly outdoors, enjoying the outdoors is a must!
Core responsibilities:
- Bare root harvest duties such as processing and grading mechanically harvested trees, loading stock
- Nursery duties year-round (that allow you to follow the life cycle of many tree varieties from propagation to harvest), including grafting, budding, planting and tree maintenance
- Tractor operation - dependent on experience
- General labouring duties
- Opportunity to lead a small team
Qualifications & experience
- 3 years + experience working as a Nursery Hand or similar role in horticulture
- Victorian manual Driver's Licence required
- Heavy Vehicle and Forklift Licence beneficial
- Current First Aid, Chemical Users Certificate and Agricultural Chemical User Permit (ACUP) also beneficial
- Tractor driving experience an advantage
