An opportunity exists for a dedicated Grade 3Occupational Therapist Clinician to join the team at Northern Psychiatric Unit, Northern Health.
At Northern Area Mental Health Service, we having a growing occupational therapy workforce. Running in line with the recent Royal Commission into Mental Health, new infrastructure is driving fresh developments and revolutionary program delivery thus generating opportunity for specialist growth in a state-of-the-art facility.
The role:
This role requires the Occupational Therapist to:
- Provide specialist occupational therapy assessments, interventions and groups to young people and adult consumers and their families to achieve positive outcomes
- Design, implement and evaluate the therapeutic group program which is a core intervention at NPU
- Coordinate and capacity build multidisciplinary staff to support the utilisation of sensory assessments, interventions and two sensory rooms
- Develop and maintain activity hubs within NPU, to support a wide range of safe and meaningful activities being available for consumers to access
- Lead, supervise and support a team of Occupational Therapists
- Work closely with the NPU team, sharing your clinical expertise and support quality initiatives and research
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Expertise in developing and delivering interventions with consumers who have experienced serious mental illness and have complex mental health needs
- Interest and expertise in sensory modulation and group work
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong clinical leadership skills and ability to contribute effectively to a multidisciplinary team
- Genuine commitment to embedding recovery principles and trauma informed care into practice
