What you'll be doing:
The Senior Occupational Therapist provides clinical governance, leadership and expertise within acute occupational therapy services including the provision of safe, timely, compassionate and high quality person-centred care. In this role you will be providing advanced person-centred clinical care to clients and their families/carers, demonstrating extensive and relevant clinical expertise in accordance with evidence-based practice and in collaboration with other health care professionals. Day-to-day you will be applying expertise and professional knowledge and decision making when managing interventions for novel or complex occupational therapy tasks or complex case management issues. Additionally, you will network regularly across NBMLHD to ensure consistency in clinical practice and service provision as requested/delegated by the Head of Department. New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health or provide an Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW. A NSW Health agency may require further information about the medical contraindication (including but not limited to an Immunisation Medical Exemption form – IM011 form).
Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.
Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified and must not exceed the duration or conditions associated with the current visa.
Selection criteria to be addressed: * Recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy in accordance with Schedule C of the NSW Health Professionals (State) Award, current registration with AHPRA and commitment to own ongoing professional development.

  • Extensive post graduate clinical experience in acute and community-based Aged Care services.
  • Ability to work as a part of a multidisciplinary team and to apply advanced clinical reasoning skills and independent professional judgement when dealing with situations of a novel, complex or critical nature.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills that includes extensive experience in completing formal reports and liaising, educating and collaborating with patients, stakeholders and other agencies.
  • Excellent negotiation, decision making and advocacy skills including the ability to interact constructively and collaboratively with members of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with experience in the supervision, education and performance management of staff, students and allied health assistants.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, lead and support others in continuous quality improvement strategies.
  • Current Class C driver’s license and willingness to use it for work purposes.
