This position contributes si gnificantly to increasing revenue for the organisation from patients electing to use their private health insurance in a public hospital setting. It plays a key role in promoting the use of private health insurance by patients, and the position holder is required to provide accurate and timely information to the patient /carer about using private health insurance in a public hospital.
This position is required to identify which patients have private health insurance through effective questioning techniques. This position is also responsible for actively seeking opportunities to promote and market patient use of entitlements to convert from non-chargeable to chargeable, and for training and supporting front line administrative staff in revenue systems and processes.
Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified for this position following suitable labour market testing.
All workers and new recruits are required to receive 2 doses of a Therapeutic Goods Administration approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccine to commence employment/ engagement or continue to work within a NSW Health service.
A worker and new recruit will be considered compliant if they have a medical contraindication to all available Therapeutic Goods Administration approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccines and provide medical contraindication evidence in line with the policy requirements.
In addition, all Category A workers and new recruits are required to receive one dose of the seasonal influenza vaccine annually to be considered compliant.
Category A workers and new recruits who are non-compliant with seasonal influenza vaccination or have a medical contraindication to influenza or COVID-19 vaccinations must comply with all other infection control risk reduction strategies as directed while working in a Category A position.

- Ability to gain an understanding of patient's financial classifications, private health insurance in public hospitals and hospital processes
- Ability to train and educate staff in revenue raising functions and support them through these processes.
- Ability to perform a wide range of administrative tasks using analytical skills, in a high volume and demanding environment, while managing competing work priorities.
- High level written/oral communication skills, including good comprehension, with the ability to communicate effectively with people from different cultural backgrounds.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the use Microsoft Office Applications, Including Word and Excel and experience working with database software.
- Demonstrated initiative and a commitment to providing a quality service and quality improvement initiatives in workplace practices and procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently under limited direction, as well as part of a team.
- Ability to work a rotating seven day roster including weekends and public holidays, covering the hours of 6.30 am until 8.00pm
