Key Points

  • Full-time Oncology and Haematology Pharmacist – 76 hours per fortnight.
  • Epic Pharmacy - St John of God Private Hospital, Murdoch WA.
  • Monday to Friday, with rostered hours between 8:00am to 6:00pm

About the role:
We are currently recruiting a full-time pharmacist at Epic Pharmacy for maternity leave cover, located within the St John of God Private Hospital, Murdoch. You will deliver optimum patient-centred pharmacy care and have the chance to gain hands-on clinical experience while partnering with an expert team of local staff and doctors to leave a positive impact on patient care.

The successful candidate will have prior experience in the field of oncology and haematology; training for the right candidate will be considered.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate patient medication requirements for inpatient stay, day infusions and discharge
  • Conduct medication chart reviews
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with key stakeholders to ensure excellent customer service 
  • Support and educate patients, carers, hospital staff on health promotion, disease prevention, drug selection and the proper use of medicines
  • Offer accurate cancer pharmacy advice to patients, carers, and healthcare professionals.
  • Involve in therapeutic decision-making for cancer treatments with medical staff
  • Support clinical trials through dispensing and paperwork.
  • Meet clinical competency and professional development requirements.
  • Maintain and enhance clinical knowledge in cancer treatment through ongoing education.
  • Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to solve clinical problems for cancer patients.
  • Promote communication and cooperation among clinical services, medical services, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure the availability and proper dispensing of all drugs, including those from special supply programs.
  • Promote strategies for preventing medication errors and report incidents.
  • Demonstrate and promote safe handling practices for cancer therapies.
  • Participate in medication preparation and achieve validation of techniques.
  • Provide dispensary support, including quotes for non-government funded medicines.
  • Contribute to the development and revision of policies and procedures.
  • Engage with the pharmaceutical industry for updates on new and existing products.
  • Participate in team training sessions

About you:
As a highly driven AHPRA registered pharmacist, you will have the ability to sensitively deal with patient needs and have a passion for delivering the best possible care. High attention to detail and effective interpersonal and communication skills are mandatory. Experience in an Australian based pharmacy is also mandatory. 

Must be available to work a variable roster from Monday to Friday with shifts finishing no later than 6:00pm
