About Onslow & Onslow Salt:
Onslow Salt (OSPL) salt fields were built in the late 1990’s and began shipping salt in 2001. In 2006 Mitsui & Co Ltd, one of the worlds most diversified investment and trading enterprises, acquired OSPL. Currently OSPL, as part of the Shark Bay Salt Group (SBSG), is producing 2.7 million tonnes of salt a year with exports predominantly to the Asian markets.
Onslow is a coastal town in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, 1,386 kilometres north of Perth. It has a population of approximately 850 people and is located within the Shire of Ashburton local government area. The community has a general store, library, fuel stations, doctor’s surgeries, primary and secondary schooling.
This is a 9-month Max-Term contract.
The Duties:
- Safe and accurate sample Collection / Preparation / Analysis of salt and brine.
- Conduct analysis to support production targets and quality specs for all saleable products.
- Timely reporting of results.
- Data entry and reporting using Crystal software.
- Accurately recording collection data and compiling relevant reports.
- Keeping laboratory consumable stocks refilled including reagents preparation.
- Examining and testing samples to determine their physical chemical properties, using special equipment such as microscopes, ultrasonic separation, chromatic titrations.
- Calibrating equipment and preparing standards.
- Update Laboratory safe work procedures as required.
- Safe and accurate sample Preparation and Analysis of Shipped Salt Product.
- Identifying errors arising during the process.
- Prepare working methods for non-routine analysis.
About you:
The successful candidate should demonstrate the following criteria:
- Certificate III in Laboratory Techniques or Tertiary Qualification – Desirable.
- Experience in the same or similar role within a remote location.
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts. 4 days on, 4 days off roster
- Excellent verbal and communication skills
- Time and task management skills.
- Be able to work independently and within a team environment.
Our minimum requirements:
- Current WA Drivers Licence.
- Obtain a National Police Clearance.
- Microsoft Office Experience (Excel, Word and Outlook)
- Pre-employment requirements - including medical, drug and alcohol screen.
