Job description

  • A diverse role where you will have the opportunity to be hands on with a broad spectrum of technologies.
  • We invest in your development so you can stay up to date with innovative solutions and industry trends.
  • A role that offers a true breadth of involvement from strategy through to implementation and operations.
  • Competitive remuneration package and genuine flexibility – talk to us about what works for you.

As an Operational Technology (OT) Engineer, you will collaborate with system stakeholders and technology teams to administer and secure OT systems whilst also managing upgrades, installations, documentation, and change processes. Additionally, you will liaise with internal teams, vendors, and consultants to enhance core OT systems and establish Operational Technology standards, all while maintaining a strong commitment to our customer values.

Passionate, skilled and great with people: Here’s who we’re looking for.

  • You are technically competent with a wide range of OT systems and technologies.
  • You have a good understanding of engineering principles, and networking concepts, such as protocols and configuration.
  • You bring the latest insights on OT systems and security trends, and love putting them into action.
  • You’re great at building and nurturing productive relationships with stakeholders at all levels, and of many diverse backgrounds.
  • Ideally you are experienced with PLC/SCADA systems (Ignition SCADA in particular).

This bit matters! We’re an equal opportunity employer and we’re proud of our diverse work environment. We are also on our own journey to support an even more diverse and inclusive workplace culture. We recognise the need to continue to encourage diversity and strive to have a workforce that is representative of our community. If you have any questions about our inclusivity or accessibility, please do get in touch.

Five reasons why we hope you’ll apply.

You’ll enjoy some great benefits at the Port of Brisbane, including Flex-Work, a Healthy Lifestyle Program including a free on-site gym, a subsidised Café and a commitment to developing our people. But joining us in this role should mean so much more.

  1. A diverse role where every day’s different

You might be surprised by the breadth of our operations – from property managers to marine operations and security specialists, strategic developers and IT experts, our team is truly diverse.

As an OT Engineer, you’ll get interesting, varied work, as you engage with a diverse, dispersed workforce. What’s more, you’ll love the opportunity to bring fresh ideas that impact your future resume. As a techie, we’ll invest in your development to stay up-to-date with innovative solutions and industry trends.

  1. An important job, a powerful purpose

What we do at Port of Brisbane affects all Queenslanders and many who visit our proud state. So it’s vital that we ensure a connected workforce, with fit-for-purpose technology to make work efficient.

  1. A place where flexibility matters too:

We expect a lot from our people, who are committed and dedicated to our mission. But in return for your efforts, you’ll enjoy flexibility and balance, no matter what’s important to you outside of work. Talk to us about a 9-day fortnight, working from home, staggered start and finish times or other arrangements that would support balance.

  1. A welcoming, supportive culture:

You’ll find so many friendly, connected people at Port of Brisbane, and our Technology team are no exception. We get on really well and love to collaborate, with our focus always on our customers. And there’s always a helping hand, a coffee or a ‘You’ve got this’ when you need one.

  1. A proud reputation; a bright future:

You’ll join a company renowned for best practice in our industry, and a Technology team that is proud of how much we consistently achieve. But we’re not sitting still. Bring your fresh perspectives and expertise to a team that truly values them.

Ready for the best career you never imagined? Apply today!

If you’re interested in the role and think you fit the bill, we’d love to hear from you!

You must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident or hold a valid work permit or visa. You’ll also be required to complete pre-employment checks, including a national police check.

As there’s no public transport to our sites, you’ll need a valid driver’s licence and reliable transport.
