Job description

You will be in the epicentre of our operations division where you will be tending to client enquires including entering bookings on our transport software, following up and responding to client questions or concerns, preparing client reports and collating various documentation, often simultaneously. We also require this person to be able despatch and manage the execution of deliveries, and provide support to other despatchers when required. 

It can be a fast-paced environment when it's busy which can make the day go fast but there's always times to ease off and catch your breath. You'll be accompanied by a dynamic, helpful and fun team as part of a small business that maintains a family feel. 

Below is an example of tasks involved in the position; 

  • Receive incoming phone calls, predominantly to book deliveries on transport software
  • Receive, follow up and as necessary, respond to client queries or concerns
  • Allocate deliveries to drivers using both the transport software and other direct communication
  • Manage drivers accordingly to ensure optimum logistical efficiency and customer service
  • Work collaboratively with clients and drivers to develop solutions to difficult deliveries or unforeseen issues that may arise
  • Coordination of POD collection and forwarding to clients
  • Prepare and provide quotes as required, including invoicing of 'cash' jobs
  • Regular reporting, sometimes daily of delivery costings to clients
  • Collation of courier and ute driver documentation

Skills you'll need;

  • Proven ability to quickly learn new software programs and become confident in its use and application
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and cope with high volumes of tasks simultaneously for extended periods of time
  • Effective communication with a range of internal and external stakeholders, focussing on the end result of successful deliveries. This may include issue solution and negotiation
  • Ability to develop meaningful relationships with all stakeholders through friendly and cooperative phone communication
  • Proficient use of computers and the Microsoft Office suite of programs 
  • Sound geographical knowledge of Adelaide and surrounding areas

  • Remain calm under pressure while managing multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Swift thinking to develop and implement logistical solutions
  • Ability to be firm with both drivers and clients to achieve the logistical outcomes required while appreciating the needs of both
  • A reliable and dependable team member who is committed to the company ethos of honesty and integrity
  • Naturally adept with attention to detail
