We have a brilliant opportunity with our client, an independent agricultural asset management company. They manage numerous corporate scale agricultural assets across New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria, Northern Territory & Vanuatu incorporating orchards (citrus, almonds, pistachio, kiwi fruit) and a broad spectrum of cropping activities, from irrigated summer crops to winter dryland cereal cropping and livestock.
The Role
We are seeking an Almond Orchard Hand for our clients property, located 18 kms from Hillston NSW. The property consists of 11,000ha of arable farming land, 7000ha of irrigation country and 22,000ha of grazing country. It also boasts some of the most productive soils in the Lachlan Valley and combined with water assets, and quality, presents an exciting opportunity for an Orchard Hand to be involved in a newly developed Orchard.
Supported by the Orchard Manager, the applicant will conduct day to day operations as well as work alongside contracting operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement ‘Best Practice’ agricultural systems and standards to support almond production in consultation with the Orchard Manager
- Perform general day to day operations (and personally operate where required) a range of tractors and tractor-drawn machinery throughout the season.
- Maintenance of irrigation systems, farm machinery & other plant and equipment
- Ensuring operational timelines are met.
- Understanding and implementation of all WH&S procedures and protocols
What we need from you:
- Previous experience in almond production, irrigation and fertiliser (preferred).
- Strong communication skills.
- Well organised with excellent time management skills.
- Passion for new technologies and chasing efficiency on farm.
- Well-developed computer skills and a willingness to utilise technologies.
- Ability to work in a team environment and independently.
- Current drivers licence - essential.
- Current Chemical Certificate - preferred.
