  • BASIS OF EMPLOYMENT: Hours negotiable between part time 0.6 FTE, (45.6 hours per fortnight) and full time (76 hours per fortnight). Position requires occasional work outside of normal business hours.
  • LOCATION: Hobart, Tasmania, with occasional travel within Tasmania.
  • SALARY: To be negotiated based on skills and experience. $70,000 - $75,000 per annum pro rata, plus superannuation.
  • RESPONSIBLE TO: Chief Executive Officer
ABOUT THE POSITION
Landcare Tasmania’s Outreach Program delivers a range of events including workshops, field days, training sessions, working bees, fundraising events, stalls at community events and festivals and our biennial Conference and Awards (next Conference to be held in late 2025). The Outreach Coordinator will bring together these events into a cohesive program that aligns with Landcare Tasmania’s strategic plan, increases engagement and awareness of Landcare in the community and meets requirements for delivery of events as part of our various projects.
The Outreach Coordinator will work closely with the CEO, Program Manager, Projects Team and Communications Coordinator to ensure that events are well run and engaging, aligned with Landcare Tasmania’s brand, and that appropriate reporting, controls and risk management are applied to all Landcare Tasmania events and Community Outreach activities. The Outreach Coordinator will also grow and train a team of volunteers to assist in the delivery of events and the running of stalls at community events and festivals.
The role will suit someone who is comfortable working in a fast paced environment, and is able to move between strategy and big-picture planning and day-to-day tasks
Selection Criteria
Essential
  • At least 3 years’ experience working in community outreach or events in a similar role.
  • Excellent people management skills: able to effectively supervise and/or manage the activities of employees, volunteers and contractors.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage with a broad range of stakeholders.
  • Understanding of environmental NGOs and the Landcare movement.
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects and multi-task, whilst being responsible for all related administrative tasks (eg. ticketing, scheduling, volunteers, programming, equipment).
  • Proven experience in project budget management.
  • Excellent computer skills: efficient in Google Suite, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Proven experience in marketing, digital communications and public relations.
  • Ability to work effectively as a team player as well as independently.
  • A current driver's licence.
  • A Tasmanian Working With Vulnerable People card or ability to obtain
Desirable
  • Relevant tertiary qualification(s) (eg. event management, hospitality management, marketing, public relations or similar).
  • Experience working in the not-for-profit sector.
  • First Aid Certificate.
  • Other specialised event or communications skills (eg. event AV, social media, podcasting, etc).
  • Experience in donor engagement and fundraising.
  • Knowledge/experience in conservation or land management.
  • Knowledge/experience in community and stakeholder engagement (preferably in Tasmania)
  • Experience developing workshops and training in the environmental field.
  • Experience working with CRM (Nationbuilder or similar) and project management software (Clickup or similar).
