Tailored and structured supervision program
New graduates will receive weekly supervision.
Experienced practitioners will receive regular supervision (based on need and preference) and peer support.
If you participate in our rural outreach program (support clients in MM5 areas), you will be supported to apply for the Health Workforce Queensland Scholarship program. This allows health practitioners to access up to $10,000 worth of PD funding (subject to HWSP approval and criteria - refer external website for more information).
Acacia Therapy PD package valued up to $2,000 per year (not including HWSP funding).
Access to pool work cars for community appointments.
Job Description and Responsibilities:
- We are looking for friendly, warm, and approachable speech pathologist (recent graduates welcome to apply) to become the newest member of our multidisciplinary therapy team.
- As a Paediatric speech pathologist working with Acacia Therapy, you will provide clinic, home, and other community-based support to clients (age range 0-13 years of age) and their families.
- We see NDIS, private and Medicare clients.
Caseload structure:
If you are a new graduate, you can expect to see two clients per day for the first month. From here, your caseload steps up to supporting three clients per day, before you settle at around four clients per day on average.
Our slow and steady approach provides you with the time to collaborate with our senior therapists, plan sessions, consolidate your skills, create resources, and to finetune your note taking and report writing skills.
If you are an experienced practitioner, you can expect to see four clients per day.
We take the time to understand your professional goals and areas of interest when building your caseload.
KPIs - unlike most organisations we don’t use KPIs to measure performance (as they don’t measure quality).
Team Collaboration:
Our team works from an open plan office. This allows plenty of opportunity to discuss strategies with other team members, ensure you feel connected to the team and to participate in office conversations. It also avoids practitioners feeling isolated in small individual therapy rooms, or individual offices.
We work in collaboration with external allied health professionals, general practitioners, teachers, and medical specialists to provide high quality support to our clients.
Our clinical team is supported by friendly administration staff who ensure the smooth running of the clinic by taking care of appointment scheduling, billing, and other administrative tasks.
Professional Growth and Advancement:
- Acacia Therapy supports practitioners to undertake project work and to tailor their caseloads towards areas of interest.
- Practitioners are encouraged to upskill and participate in professional development events.
- Our practitioners are supported to develop their skills and knowledge so that they can advance to senior practitioners.
- Our practitioners benefit from regular face to face supervision, monthly team meetings, and journal club and in service events. Acacia Therapy operates a fortnightly peer group for our paediatric team to get together to discuss hot topics and general caseload questions.
- Practitioners are supervised by experienced practitioners who love the opportunity to share practical clinical knowledge and insight.
