About the role
Catholic Homes is seeking Pastoral Care Practitioners to join our Pastoral Care Team on a casual basis. The successful candidates will provide an atmosphere of care and spiritual support to the residents and their families at Catholic Homes. This position is based at our Head Office in Burswood, however, will require flexibility to work across our various resident locations.
Catholic Homes’ Head Office has modern staff amenities with culturally diverse teams. It is located close to Burswood train station and Victoria Park bus station with easy access from Albany and Great Eastern Highway.
Key responsibilities of the role include
- Providing effective spiritual and emotional support to residents, and residents’ families.
- Visiting all residents irrespective of faith group and any others who have requested a visit or as directed by Management/Clinical Nurse or appropriate staff.
- Providing assessments, interventions and review of care plans.
- Supporting the Manager Pastoral Care Services in the preparation and running of services, workshops and retreat days.
- Providing bereavement support.
To be successful in this role you will have:
Essential criteria:
- Demonstrated ability to support people spiritually and emotionally from a variety of faith, cultural and social backgrounds.
- Ability to work independently and autonomously.
- Proficient computer skills including use of electronic clinical records.
- A bachelor's degree or equivalent in ministry, theology, philosophy, or health related discipline.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Valid driver's licence.
Desirable:
- Membership of Spiritual Care Australia.
- A unit in Clinical Pastoral Education.
- Minimum 2 years experience in aged care, health care or community care.
