  • Provide excellent spiritual and emotional care to our patients, visitors and staff
  • Be a part of an outstanding team of professional Pastoral Care Practitioners
  • Join one of Australia’s leading health, community and aged care providers
  • Work for a company who is driven by its values rather than the bottom line

About the role

Working as a Pastoral Carer for Calvary is a profound privilege.  Each day we are invited into the sacred space of another person’s vulnerability as they navigate their way through the highs and lows of their medical journey.  You will be joining a remarkable team of Pastoral Care Practitioners who work as part of multidisciplinary teams providing holistic care to our patients.  Our Pastoral Care department stands out as a high functioning team of dedicated staff with a positive culture.  You will have access to regular Professional Development as well as individual and group clinical supervision.

This is a casual position.  While effort will be made to provide some regular weekly hours, there is no guarantee of regular and predictable shifts.  You will be called upon to cover holiday leave, sick leave and help meet hospital needs during peak periods.  Some weeks may be without shifts and others will have work every other day.  As such, this role is not suitable for those who require a stable income or who have significant inflexible commitments elsewhere.

Selection Criteria -  PLEASE ADDRESS AND UPLOAD IN "OTHER DOCUMENTS" IN YOUR APPLICATION

  • Qualifications in a humanities discipline such as counselling, psychology, education, social work, clinical pastoral education or pastoral ministry
  • Relevant experience providing high level emotional and spiritual care
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and exercise judgement on routine matters
  • Proven interpersonal and communication skills
  • Medium to high level computer skills
  • Availability and suitability to work irregular and varied weekday shifts as required by the needs of the Pastoral Care department.
  • Ability to work at both the Calvary Lenah Valley and Calvary St John’s campuses.

Benefits

This is an excellent opportunity to be a part of a leading values based health care organisation. We offer paid parental leave, salary packaging, career progression, discounted health insurance and gym memberships, flexible working hours and training and skills development. Calvary is also proud to be recognised as a leader in gender equality.  Further details are available here: https://www.calvarycare.org.au/careers/benefits/
