The Position
We are seeking a Printed Circuit Board (PCB) designer/layout engineer for a position at our headquarters in Canberra in the PCB CAD department. The PCB Designer's primary role is to provide an engineering service that translates schematics into the design of physical PCBs while optimising their quality, performance and manufacturability. As a PCB Designer, you will contribute to the development and design of next generation RADAR and ancillary systems.
This role is responsible for:
- Designing complex multi layered PCBs.
- Utilising PCB design techniques to maximise design for manufacturability and increase yield and reliability.
- Attending and actively participating in design reviews.
- Liaising with PCB manufactures, PCA assemblers, production and QA on board specifics.
- Producing and reviewing manufacturing data (Gerber files, drill files, bill of materials, PCB layout drawings, milling files etc).
- Providing support to test and repair staff for fault finding
- Completing clear and concise schematics for Engineers when requested.
- The simulation of critical nets for signal integrity.
Essential
- Advanced Diploma or Certificate in Electronics (TAFE) and at least 3 years' experience in PCB design.
- An understanding of design for manufacturability to IPC standards.
- An understanding of CAD processes and procedures.
- An aptitude toward problem solving and excellent attention to detail.
- Basic level Microsoft Office Suite
- Basic ability to use Advanced Mentor Graphics experience.
Eligibility
To be eligible for this position you must be:
- An Australian Citizen
- Eligible to obtain and maintain an AGSVA clearance - Negative Vetting 1
The successful candidate MUST be able to obtain a clearance prior to commencement.
