Prescott College Southern is seeking to fill the following position as soon as possible

  • Middle School Physical Education and Religion Teacher (FTE negotiable from 0.4 - 1.0)

TENURE: Full-time contract until 13 December 2024

Seventh-day Adventist Schools (South Australia) Limited is seeking to appoint a physical education and Religion Teacher. This position is initially offered as a fixed term contract until 13 December 2024 which may be extended for the right candidate. 

  • Applications are welcomed from candidates who can demonstrate their ability to meet the selection criteria for teaching one or both of these subject areas.
  • With the FTE negotiable this position may suit someone managing work commitments with their lifestyle or possibly a candidate who meets the requirements under the provisions of Special Authority To Teach (SAT).

Location/School:

Prescott College Southern is located 24km south of the Adelaide CBD.  The school has an enrolment of approximately 750 students from Foundation to Year 12. The school provides a family atmosphere where students have close and supportive contact with their teachers and peers. They are provided with an education that is personal, nurturing and targeted towards developing their individual abilities.

Role Description:

As an excellent classroom teacher, the right candidate will have knowledge and understanding of the Australian Curriculum and the ability to transfer best practice into the classroom, including an understanding of how to differentiate the curriculum to cater for individual student needs. They will also be able to deliver an engaging learning program that meets the needs of their students while developing a positive classroom climate.

Teachers at Prescott College Southern have the ability to connect with students from a range of backgrounds and abilities to help them become engaged learners and achieve success at their level, which is an important component of this role. They also work harmoniously as part of a team.

They will be able to demonstrate their ability to:

  • successfully contribute to the ethos of the school
  • assist with the development and implementation of curriculum.
  • implement contemporary classroom practices to maximise student learning

Desirable Characteristics

  • Experience teaching Physical Education and Religion, in particular the Encounter curriculum
  • A practical understanding of SEQTA as learning management system
  • A willingness to contribute in a variety of areas of school life 

Application Requirements:

In addition to the above, the successful applicant will have:

  • a personal faith and commitment to Jesus Christ and a lifestyle consistent with that faith
  • the ability to clearly communicate with students, colleagues and the wider community regarding educational and welfare issues
  • an appropriate tertiary education degree as required for registration with the Teacher Registration Board of South Australia or able to meet the requirements of employment under the SAT
  • the ability to meet and maintain the criteria of the Australia Professional Standards for Teachers at the proficient level according to legislation

Salary Range: $83000 - $114000 (1.0 FTE)
