As they continue its exciting period of growth and change, the opportunity for a P&C Operations Business Partner for NSW and QLD has arisen due to ongoing change. Reporting directly to the Chief People Officer.

Position Overview
The People and Culture Operations Business Partner plays a key role in supporting the operational teams by managing human resources functions such as employee relations, Shift & Roster Planning, performance management, recruitment, and training & development.
This position acts as a trusted advisor to operations leaders, providing guidance, coaching, and solutions to enhance organisational effectiveness, performance, and employee engagement, all while ensuring values are upheld.

Key responsibilities include: 

  • Candidate Selection and Onboarding: Participate in interviews and provide input on candidate selection. Ensure positive and timely engagement with new starters, including induction and on boarding, and prepare managers for these processes.
  • Employment Relations: Serve as the first point of contact for employees and managers, addressing inquiries, concerns, and providing guidance on HR policies and procedures. Provide detailed advice on Award and EBA interpretation, and offer ongoing coaching to line managers for effective day-to-day employee relations management.
  • Organisational Development: Develop and implement people strategies to enhance organisational effectiveness and employee satisfaction. Lead organisational change efforts, manage union relationships and EBA negotiations, and act as the escalation point for administrative payroll support.
  • Talent and Performance Management: Support Learning & Development initiatives, educate and coach managers on performance management cycles, and ensure operational excellence in all HR processes. Provide timely advice on employee management and disciplinary matters, and foster accountability for employee development and performance.
  • Business Partnering: Collaborate with business leaders to understand their needs and objectives, proactively identify HR solutions, and implement HR strategies that support the company's strategic direction. Act as a trusted advisor, build strong working relationships, and facilitate effective people management through coaching.
  • Policy and Procedure Management: Manage changes to employee position details, parental leave cases, and exit interviews. Provide professional HR advice on policies, employment legislation, and change management processes, offering risk analysis and challenging decisions not in the organisation's best interest.
  • Health and Safety: Ensure safe working environments, provide necessary information and training for employee health and safety, consult with employees on WH&S matters, comply with legal health and safety requirements, and address unsafe conditions or behaviours promptly.
  • Employee Engagement: Implement initiatives to enhance employee engagement, morale, and retention. Ensure fair and consistent HR practices, promote a positive employee experience, and address complex employee relations issues with strategic advice and conflict resolution guidance.
  • System and Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for organisational development, collaborate on initiatives such as succession planning and workforce planning, and manage system and process changes, including training sessions. Handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • ESG/Sustainability: Support the company's ESG/Sustainability strategy by contributing to relevant projects, engaging in sustainable practices, identifying improvement opportunities, and promoting sustainability within the company and to external stakeholders.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Outstanding communication skills (written and oral), high-level interpersonal skills, sound judgement, and the ability to adapt communication styles based on the audience.
  • Demonstrated analytic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with a proven track record of developing innovative solutions to business issues.
  • Proven skills in team building, developing individuals to achieve their full potential, and implementing system and process changes, including training.
  • Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office, comprehensive understanding of P&C functions and best practices, familiarity with P&C systems (e.g., P&CM, Applicant Tracking, Learning Management), and relevant employment laws.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar People & Culture role supporting operational functions, preferably within an industrial setting with a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in Human Resources or a related field
