How you'll make an impact

The PX Transformation and Enablement group exists to ensure delivery of key PX transformation priorities which will include strategic, cross-functional programs of work that address systemic review and delivery of uplift across the PX value chain including process, systems, insights and employee experience for Xeros. It is more critical than ever that our PX teams are able to deliver our strategy and that our functional resources are clearly aligned to enable these teams.

Working closely with the PX Transformation Manager and wider transformation & enablement team, you will support executing and delivering to our PX strategy, OKRs and transformation roadmap. Ensuring we develop and embed the frameworks needed to help us scale effectively and embed excellence in all that we design, build and deliver.

Our PX Transformation is focused on reimagining the way we deliver a world-class employee experience to employees and people leaders across Xero in a scalable and consistent way. As a People Experience Designer, you will be at the centre of embedding a user-first approach to our process and system changes, underpinned by well thought out and considered user personas and journeys that deliver that Xero experience that is so important to our people.

You will make an impact by designing end user experiences that delight Xeros and People Leaders when interacting with PX in accordance with our employee lifecycle.

What you'll do

  • Conduct user interviews, surveys, and usability studies to understand user behaviors and needs.
  • Develop and maintain user personas and journeys to guide design across Transformation activities
  • Take a data driven approach to embedding findings in design decisions
  • Create wireframes and interactive prototypes to visualise and iterate on design concepts.
  • Engage with stakeholders to gather feedback to refine prototypes
  • Develop information architecture and site maps to organise content and enhance user navigation
  • Ensure logical flow and structure in digital products
  • Design visually appealing and on-brand interfaces that prioritise user experience
  • Create high-fidelity mockups and design assets for development
  • Plan and conduct usability testing sessions to gather feedback on designs
  • Iterate on designs based on user testing results and stakeholder input
  • Work closely with the PX Transformation and PX Systems & Insights teams to develop user experiences that delight end users
  • Generate insights to recommend and advise on how best to improve our content to deliver our PX Transformation and a world class employee experience
  • Work with the PX centres of excellence (LX/TX/OD) to understand user types and journeys, pain points, and opportunities
  • Bring your natural curiosity, detailed approach and customer-oriented thinking to all you do, proactively delivering insights to inform decisions
  • Maintain a strong understanding of the transformation roadmap and how it aligns to Xero's and PX's strategic vision, direction and priorities

Success looks like

  • Thoughtful, considered, and well-rounded user personas are embedded across PX Transformation and strategic initiatives
  • Employees and People Leaders have positive experiences when interacting with PX systems and processes, and adapt to change seamlessly
  • You'll input to multiple projects at once, within PX and across other Transformation activities at Xero
  • You'll own and deliver process and continuous improvement
  • Our team is able to make decisions at pace thanks to the processes you have contributed to
  • You'll work with PX and the business to understand problems and how to best prioritise initiatives
  • You'll have harmonious working relationships with all employees, people leaders and business stakeholders
  • You'll support the adoption of self-service by PX, people leaders and Employees
  • The PX team look to involve you in the early stages of new initiatives as a result of your expertise and ability to see the linkages with existing items of work

What you'll bring with you

  • 5+ years experience in a UX designer role
  • Experience working with HR or other back office systems beneficial but not required
  • Proven experience in developing user personas and journeys that resonate with stakeholders
  • Proven experience in developing prototypes
  • Proven experience in supporting the awareness, education, engagement and optimisation of systems and processes
  • Demonstrated experience supporting the roll out of new systems and processes to a variety of key user groups, ensuring efficiency for end users
  • A passion for creating human-centered experiences that delight end users and that solve business problems
  • Creative thinker
  • Ability to develop compelling prototypes to visualise opportunities
  • An ability to think strategically, and understand how user experience contributes to the success of a transformation
  • An ability to leverage data and metrics to ensure effective design, implementation and measurement
  • Tech savvy and is both comfortable and motivated to help users make the most of available systems
  • A natural problem solver, with an ability to come up with innovative solutions to complex problems
  • Able to exercise effective judgement, sensitivity, creativity to changing needs and situations.
  • Ability to work autonomously, as well as part of a team, and prioritise competing demands
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and relationship building, including the ability to communicate with people at all levels, both in writing and in person
  • You'll be self-motivated and accustomed to juggling a changing workload
  • Confidence to lead and be accountable for project and its deliverables
  • Strong attention to detail and focus on continuous improvement
