About the role:
Maitland Hospital is seeking team orientated and motived Registered Nurse to join their team dynamic Operating Theatre team. With a total of 8 operating theatres and 2 endoscopy theatres, we offer a diverse range of surgical procedures spanning across various specialties, including General Surgery, Endoscopy, ENT (Ear, Nose, and Throat), Paediatrics, Urology, Gynaecology, Obstetrics, and Orthopaedic elective. Our operating theatres at Maitland Hospital are operational seven days a week, ensuring round-the-clock access for emergency cases. As a member of our multidisciplinary team, you'll have the opportunity to work collaboratively alongside surgeons and other healthcare professionals, contributing to the seamless delivery of patient care.

Our successful candidate will assist surgeons across a wide spectrum of specialties, ensuring patient safety, comfort, and well-being throughout the perioperative process. This dynamic environment offers an excellent opportunity for professional growth and the enhancement of your clinical skills, successful candidates will be supported by the perioperative Clinical Nurse Educators who will orientate them to the perioperative services at Maitland Hospital and work alongside a mentor for their supernumerary period. All staff also have access to Clinical Nurse Specialists and an Equipment Nurse within the Perioperative Team.
We are fortunate to run a weekly 1 hour CME where we have protected meeting and education time where all Nursing, Operations Assistants, Anaesthetic & Surgical staff are able to be involved in team simulation, clinical skills and in-services. There are daily opportunities for education with our Peer Led In-service program, product demonstrations and equipment updates.

Requirements and additional information: 

  • Registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
  • Availability to work a 7 day rotating roster with shifts covering 24hrs as well as a 7 day on call roster. 
  • An eligibility list will be created for future permanent full or part time and temporary full or part time vacancies.
  • This position is full time; however, part time arrangements will be considered.
  • Casual opportunities may be available for recommended applicants

Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.

To be eligible for permanent employment in this position you must be an Australian Citizen, or a permanent resident of Australia, or a New Zealand citizen with a current New Zealand Passport. Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable local candidate is identified for the position; in this instance, you may only be offered employment in line with the conditions and expiry date of your visa.
