Waratah-Wynyard Council have an exciting opportunity available for a Permit Authority to support our growing municipality.

Based in Wynyard the permanent full-time position is responsible for ensuring the efficient delivery of the Permit Authority roles and requirements of the Building Act 2016. Core aspects of the role will be undertaking Council’s responsibilities as a Permit Authority and investigating and resolving building and plumbing compliance matters.

This position is flexible and can be tailored to suit an entry-level candidate or a coordinator with direct reports, depending on the experience of the successful applicant.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Qualifications and, or experience in relevant building or compliance discipline and hold (or be qualified to obtain) and maintain a licence as a Permit Authority as outlined in the Occupational Licensing (Building Services Work) Determination.
  • Demonstrated experience in working within the confines of and the ability to interpret legislation.
  • Ability to deal effectively with distressed and agitated clients, placate clients and resolve problems.
