About the role

  • Provide clinical leadership and professional judgement within the Pharmacy multi-disciplinary team using highly developed knowledge, skills, and experience in the provision of Pharmacy services to patients admitted within the Emergency and Trauma Centre (ETC)
  • Manage the operational delivery of clinical, medication management services for the ETC patients, to deliver efficient services consistent with QH strategic intents, relevant statutory requirements, policies and procedures, and professional and ethical guidelines and standards
  • Participate in quality improvement and medication related research activities including: the evidence-based review of medicines use, review of drug expenditure, and the implementation and evaluation of interventions to change practice in collaboration with medical, pharmacy and nursing staff within the ETC
  • Provide expert professional support and advice to the multidisciplinary team staff about pharmacy services, policies, and procedures, and promote quality use of medicines, medication safety principles, and the role of the pharmacist within the hospital
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:
  • Clinical Expertise - Demonstrated advanced level knowledge, expertise, and skills in contemporary clinical pharmacy practice relevant to Emergency Medicine and knowledge of medication management issues and hospital pharmacy service delivery, and ability to function as a resource, offering clinical advice on pharmacy issues relevant to Critical Care. Demonstration of recognised expertise, knowledge and skills obtained through professional development activities and clinical experience
  • Communication - Demonstrated advanced level of ability to provide advice and guidance on issues relating to medication management to stakeholders both within and outside of the hospital pharmacy discipline including education and training to medical, nursing and pharmacy staff
  • Operational Management - Demonstrated advanced level of ability to provide operational management to multidisciplinary Pharmacy teams, and knowledge of the administrative requirements for the management of hospital pharmacy services
  • Leadership - Demonstrated ability to provide leadership in the development of service improvement initiatives and provide advanced level training, direction, supervision, and guidance to pharmacy clinicians
  • Evaluation and Research - Excellent research, analysis, evaluation, and report-writing skills
  • Human Resource Management Practices - Demonstrated ability to actively participate in a working environment supporting quality human resource management practices including employment equity, anti-discrimination, occupational health and safety, and ethical behaviour
