PhD scholarship in agriculture and nutritionin Timor Leste

Project Title

Improving nutritional yield of Timor Leste smallholder production systems

3 years full-time appointment

$32,192 pa indexed annually.

Multiple locations including Darwin/ Brisbane/ Alice Springs/ Sydney

About the Opportunity

This project will work with smallholder producers to improve the biomass and nutritional yield of livestock and/or crops in Timor Leste. There is potential to also research the resulting knock-on effects of improving nutritional yield on human or animal nutrition outcomes. This project will require travel to Timor Leste for field work.

Candidates could be based in Darwin, where Beth and the team are based, or could be based elsewhere in Australia by negotiation.

Scholarship Details: The successful applicant will receive a Research Training Program (RTP) Scholarship which will include an AU$32,192 (2024 rate indexed annually) and a RTP Fee Offset for the tuition fees.

The successful applicant must:

  • Be an Australian Citizen, an Australian Permanent Resident; or a New Zealand Citizen

About You

To be considered for this opportunity you should have:

  • An Honours, Masters or equivalent experience in agricultural science, environmental science or human nutrition. 
  • Capacity to travel to Timor Leste
