Access theGeneral laboratory duties, including the receipt of specimens and the registration of requests into the laboratory information system (basic keyboard/data entry skills) and maintenance of the work area including cleaning and restocking of consumables.Collection of diagnostic samples, including blood samples.Key competencies (role specific criteria)You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:
- Experience in the collection of diagnostic samples from a range of patients including children and babies.
- Demonstrated experience of the correct procedures for the performance of laboratory tests including processing and setting up techniques within the Pathology department.
- Proven ability to follow instructions and work conscientiously and accurately with minimal supervision after careful instruction.
- High level interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively and work productively in a team environment.
- Ability to actively participate in a working environment supporting quality human resource management practices including employment equity, anti-discrimination, occupational health and safety and ethical behaviour.
- In some circumstances and following consultation, Queensland Health staff may be required to participate in 24 hour shift or on-call arrangements.
- To be eligible for permanent appointment to Pathology Queensland applicants must provide proof of Australian citizenship or permanent residency. To be eligible for temporary appointment applicants must provide proof that they can legally work in Australia.
