About the Role:
This is a Permanent Part Time position at 0.5FTE within the cardiorespiratory team of the Physiotherapy Department and the Royal Children's Hospital Complex Care Hub.
You will be required to provide specialised training and consultative support aimed to optimise the health of children and families in the home and community settings. This will include training in airway clearance techniques and manual handling strategies for children with vulnerabe airways and positioning challenges. You will support families to build their capacity to advocate for access to local physiotherapy services and you will partner with community providers to achieve identified goals. Service delivery within other Physiotherapy streams may be required to meet workforce demands as directed by the manager.
What You’ll Achieve:
- Ensure timely provision of physiotherapy services through appropriate prioritisation of your own caseload and that or junior staff as required.
- Provide clinical care, advice and education in line with clinical guidelines and evidence relevant to the patient’s conditions and clinical needs.
- Work effectively and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team to establish common goals and to develop and offer best care to children and families, ensuring that patient care is integrated and effective.
- Communicate effectively with patients and families to ensure their understanding, and that their needs and views are included in treatment, care plans and actions.
- Support junior staff in their patient management and clinical reasoning with complex patients.
Classification for this position will range from Grade 2 Year 1 to Grade 2 Year 4 VB1 - VB4 (FTE base salary $86,730.80 to $99.699.60 per annum, plus superannuation).
Your Skills and Experience:
- Hold a Physiotherapy degree qualification from an accredited course/university
- Registered to practice as a Physiotherapist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- Demonstrated ability to work in an acute care time-frame, manage competing demands and to appropriately prioritise and manage a caseload
- Demonstrated ability to function independently and collaboratively with experience working in multidisciplinary teams with multiple stakeholders
- Sound problem-solving and conflict resolution skills and the ability to apply these in practice
- Demonstrated skills and experience in areas of physiotherapy practice relevant to the clinical stream
