The Pipeline Access Lead (PAL) is a member of the ANZ Access and Value team, with extensive experience, highly developed technical skills, a deep knowledge of the reimbursement system and HTA /health policies as well as good business acumen, responsible for screening, evaluation and strategic access planning for pipeline products. The role is responsible for understanding the new technology and the local access landscape to determine how to optimise reimbursement potential at launch and over the lifecycle, in support of global and local business objectives.The role will lead early pipeline assessment to initiate the local market access strategy, with a focus on PBS, and other payers as needed This includes identification of data needs that may require local evidence generation in readiness for launch.The role works closely with the Launch Excellence Lead, Medical Launch Navigator and other colleagues in Access and Value, Medical and Commercial, and engages with regional and global colleagues to ensure a cross-functional approach that is aligned in both strategy and implementation. The role involves working across Pfizer, both locally and globally, engaging independently and effectively with colleagues, including senior management.The PAL will be firmly focused on early-stage pipeline management and provide guidance on key launch milestones, including handover point to the relevant Market Access colleague in advance of reimbursement submission development.How You Will Achieve It

  • Lead development and implementation of early market access and HTA strategies, with a particular focus on first to market and novel technologies and those where Pfizer does not have an established presence, in collaboration with cross-functional colleagues, to further Australian patient access and business growth.
  • Analyse ANZ access and payer environment to identify key strategic issues and decisions that impact ANZ launch planning for reimbursed access
  • Provide strategic leadership for access and pricing assumptions for pipeline products to ensure consistency of approach across the local business.
  • Lead development and implementation of local payer and pricing research projects to inform access planning and forecast assumptions, in partnership with the Launch Excellence Lead, Access and Value colleagues and XFTs.
  • Identify innovative market access opportunities and trends and provide expert strategic advice to the Pfizer business, based on a deep understanding of Pfizer’s objectives, medicines and vaccines and the competitive market access environment.
  • Serve as the preferred point of contact for PHI Global pipeline managers and local Access and Value colleagues, to ensure the centralization of insights, inputs and projects related to the pipeline.
  • Actively collaborate with Global Access and Value to understand and influence global trial design, providing well informed input to DP3 and to development of the PHI launch plans and Global Pricing and Access policies to optimise suitability for the ANZ markets.
  • Based on global clinical development plan and local data needs, identify, areas for strategic local data generation and collaborates with other functions to develop options and business cases to demonstrate potential added value.
  • Provide access and reimbursement input to local and global BD evaluation in partnership with the Launch Excellence Lead and the Medical Launch Navigator.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Access and Value, Commercial Leads, other cross-functional colleagues, and with Global teams to develop and share a deep understanding of the access landscape and Pfizer medicines.
  • Collaborate closely with Access and Value colleagues to ensure high quality handover of access insights and strategy for implementation
Qualifications
Must-Have
  • Qualifications in Pharmacy or other Life Sciences. Post-graduate qualifications in epidemiology, biostatistics or health economics.
  • HTA/market access/pricing technical expertise, a deep knowledge of the ANZ market access environment and 7+ years’ experience in preparing and/or evaluating PBAC submissions or management of similar HTA and formulary submissions and market access projects.
  • Experience within the Pharmaceutical, Medical Devices or affiliated industry.
  • Ability to lead and prioritise multiple complex projects with proven ability to assess feasibility, lead strategy and develop and deliver high quality content.
  • Proven track record working effectively in a cross functional team, able to work seamlessly across multiple teams and levels of leadership, both locally and globally.
  • The role requires a high level of competency in literacy (written and verbal communication) and numeracy skills, a comprehensive knowledge of pharmacology and/or health science and health economics and an ability to understand and synthesize highly complex information and data.
Nice to Have
  • Experience in developing access strategies for launch, across multiple therapeutic areas is desirable.
