The Opportunity

We now have an exciting opportunity available for a Planning and Approvals Manager to join our Power Development team based in Perth.
Reporting to the Head of Power Development - SWIS, the primary purpose of this role is to apply for and secure the planning permits and Approvals primarily for large scale wind farms as well as our battery and thermal projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing the implementation of land acquisition and access processes across APA energy development projects, inclusive of: compensation principles and option payment model(s), negotiation strategies, safety and security requirements, land acquisition and access metrics to evaluate that effectiveness of lands practices
- Provide input into suitably structured agreements to secure appropriate tenure and/or options for project development and coordination with legal provider(s)
- Facilitate professional land access negotiations with landholders and be involved in complex or strategically important negotiations (government entities, large landholders, etc)
- Contribute to discussions with State and Federal departments as required for the preparation, assessment and grant of approvals, permits and licenses
- Contribute to the preparation and detailed review of EPC contract documentation as required
- Supervise contractors and consultants working on behalf of APA at project sites from time to time
- Maintain clear communication with key stakeholders
- Coordinate field work for initial due diligence tasks associated with the development of projects
About You
- A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline (for example Planning, Environmental Science, Engineering, Construction, Sustainability)
- Demonstrated knowledge of the regulatory environment relevant to tenure arrangements for renewable projects
- Significant demonstrated skills in the negotiation of licence, purchase and easement option agreements for infrastructure projects
- Able to work both independently and part of a cross functional team
- Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills, with capacity to influence and negotiate
- Ability to manage a range of competing priorities and projects to meet deadlines · High level conceptual, analytical and interpretive skills
- A minimum of 10 years' experience in a similar role in renewable, civil construction, power or energy projects
- The ability and willingness to travel to the project sites
- Strong commercial / contracts acumen
- Effective written and oral communication skills and ability to understand and write regulatory applications
