Employee Position Description: Plant Cleaner and General Hand
Position Summary
The Plant Cleaner and General Hand worker will be responsible for maintain the overall plant and yard cleanliness, keeping walkways clear and clean, plant work areas dust free, removal of trip hazards, and other general cleaning activities.
Plant and yard waste management of general and metal waste, loading into correct waste bins, controlling the levels of waste in the plant, and the coordination of waste removal.
Yard pallet storage and repair management.
Position Competency
- Demonstrate competence operating a walk behind, self-propelled floor sweeper unit.
- Demonstrate competence in using a manual pallet jack
- Demonstrate competence in using pressure hoses to clean plant and plant surroundings
- Demonstrate competence and handling using cleaning products, mops, brushes, etc.
- Be comfortable communicating with all work colleagues and management.
- Be physically fit and healthy, with good mobility.
- Musts be able to read and follow instructions.
- Musts be able to work unsupervised and as part of a team
- Current and valid forklift license an advantage
Role Responsibilities
Ensures the plant walk ways are swept clean and free from any trip hazards.
Use personal protective equipment such as gloves, eye protection, and steel-toed shoes when needed for specific tasks or environments.
Dusting, sweeping, and vacuuming all plant work area daily to minimise dust and rubbish
Cleaning walls, windows, floors, stairways, and other surfaces in the plant and warehouse.
Emptying waste bins, bagging up rubbish and making sure it is disposed of correctly.
Remove from all work areas floors any rubbish, empty boxes, and general waste.
Cleaning machinery and equipment when required. Removing grease, oil, dirt, and other contaminants using solvents and detergents.
Cleaning external areas of buildings, including yards, roofs and external walls when required.
• Organise pallet type and storage of in the yard.
• Maintain and repair damaged pallets.
• Notify management of deficiencies or repairs required.
• Monitoring work areas for safety hazards and environmental concerns, reporting problems to supervisors as needed.
• Maintain site housekeeping standards.
• Pro-active - identify opportunities to improve waste reduction and any issues around the plant.
• Reliable, honest, and trustworthy.
