Established in 1997, Lowes TC Pty Ltd stands as a leading Plant Tissue Culture laboratory in Australia, specializing in delivering high-health clonal plants across the country and around the globe, with extensive expertise in exports of TC material. Our clientele spans diverse horticultural and agricultural sectors, including forestry, mine regeneration, landscaping, ornamental horticulture, bioenergy, biopharmaceuticals, and food crops.

Over the past 5+ years, Lowes TC, supported by Australian government grants and substantial internal investment, has pioneered groundbreaking intellectual property using robotics and automation to streamline the propagation of high-health Plant Tissue Culture clones. In January 2024, Lowes TC was acquired by NXT Bioscience, a leading provider of biotechnology solutions for the agriculture sector. This strategic partnership empowers Lowes TC to leverage the resources of NXT Bioscience, facilitating the commercialization of this groundbreaking technology.

Job Description:

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Plant Tissue Culture Scheduler to enhance our multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in formulating media and production processes for Plant Tissue Culture, enabling various plant genera to thrive in our Plant Tissue Culture program. Leveraging our unique TC+ TIS bioreactor IP for the initial plant growth, the selected individual will contribute to developing the propagation processes and collaborating with our team to commercialise our innovative intellectual property in the propagation of high-health plant clones.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and optimize nutrient media formulations tailored to support the growth and development of various plant genera within the automated propagation technology. 
  • Collect, analyse, and interpret data related to plant growth, media formulations, and other relevant parameters to inform decision-making.
  • Implement rigorous quality control measures to monitor and maintain the health and purity of plant cultures produced using the new technology.
  • Facilitate successful transitions of propagated plants to greenhouse conditions.
  • Provide oversight and guidance to production teams to ensure the successful implementation and operation of the new technology in commercial settings.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including engineers, biotechnologists, and commercialization specialists, to drive the successful commercialization of the technology.

Skills and experience:

  • Essential 3+ years’ experience in Plant Tissue Culture Production.
  • A degree in Biotechnology, Plant Science, or a related field is preferred but not essential.
  • Ability to organize staff and a production schedule.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and in dealing with staff.
  • Ability to work to deadlines.
  • Self-motivated with keen attention to detail, and strong organizational skills.
  • Proficient in data collection, analysis, and report writing.
  • Ability to work well autonomously while following the correct policies and procedures.
  • Competence in the use of computers and MS Office software.
  • Demonstrate problem-solving skills.
  • Be a team player who enjoys working within a group environment.

About the role

  • Full-Time Position.
  • Work on-site in the laboratory, Located in on the Central Coast NSW.
  • Competitive Salary on offer for the right candidate.
  • Must be an Australian/New Zealand Citizen or Australian Permanent Resident.
