Plumbing & Drainage Inspector

About the role
This is a permanent, full-time position working 35 hours (Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm) and will be based at the Nowra Administration Building.

Duties 
Reporting directly to the Team Supervisor - Certification, the focus of this position is to:

• Undertake plumbing and drainage inspections for residential, commercial and industrial buildings and onsite sewerage management systems.
• Assess and determine applications for approval under Section 68 of the Local Government Act and Local Government (General) Regulations for plumbing, drainage, stormwater and onsite sewerage management systems.
• Research Councils records and intranet to collate the information required to draw accurate internal drainage diagrams.

Skills & Experience
To be successful in the position, you will be/ possess:

• Current Plumbing and Drainage Trade qualifications/license
• Certificate IV in Local government (Planning) or Advance Diploma in Building Surveying or committed to obtaining.
• Extensive experience in the assessment of plans and all types of plumbing and drainage work.
• Effective time management and prioritisation skills.
• Experience in the use of technical publications such as the NCC and Australian Standards relevant to all classes of buildings. .
• Experience in the building and construction industry.
• NSW WorkCover Construction Induction Card.
• Specialist skills that enable the interpretation of plumbing and drainage requirements of legislation and apply these to the Local Government Area.
• Extensive experience in the assessment of plans and all types of plumbing and drainage work.
• Current Class C Driver’s Licence.
• Proof of Australian residency or citizenship, or authority to work in Australia (visa)
