About the Early Childhood Outcomes Division
The Early Childhood Outcomes Division leads the delivery of the Early Years Commitment program, including comprehensive investments in the critical first 5 years of life for every child – in child development and in early education and care, making investments that support families and the community now, as well as investing in long term reforms for the future. Key initiatives will include supporting families with young children to access the services they need to support their own prosperity and wellbeing; valuing and growing the early childhood education and care sector and investing in early childhood teachers and educators.
About the Role
Be part of an exciting opportunity to contribute to the Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander community in accessing quality early childhood education. You will coordinate and undertake policy and project development and work towards supporting the delivery for the .
Your duties will include but are not limited to:
  • Undertake research and analysis, reviewing alternatives in relation to policy deliverables, to contribute to the policy process and to inform decision making
  • Prepare and review policy advice to ensure alignment with policy directions
  • Communicate with key stakeholders and coordinate working groups, committee meetings, and stakeholder consultations to support engagement as well as policy development and implementation
  • Undertake research and collate information for reporting, monitoring and evaluation purposes to contribute to the achievement of policy outcomes

About You
As the ideal candidate:
  • You will offer a unique perspective to education and student support and provide cultural knowledge and understanding that is shared with all students and staff.
  • Have experience working in Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander communities
  • Have high language and communication skills
  • Ability to interpret government policies and be the conduit to community voices and getting their voices represented.
  • Strong flexibility and adaptability skills
  • Ideally have experience working within the public sector and/or experience collaborating with other government departments
Essential Requirements of the Role
  • Aboriginality is an essential requirement for this role. The role has been identified as an Aboriginal role in accordance with the provisions of Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977.
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline or demonstrated equivalent knowledge and/or experience.
  • A valid Working with Children Check for paid employment.
  • Demonstrated understanding of, and commitment to, the value of public education.
