About the Role: As the lead, your primary responsibility is to support the implementation of Positive Behaviour Supportand Capacity Building initiatives for adults with complex behaviour and psychosocial disabilities.. Working closely with a multidisciplinary team, you will facilitate the implementation of an individualised therapeutic model of support which combines Positive Behaviour Support with person centred active support within a human rights framework. You will provide direct assistance, coaching and mentoring to participants and staff, delivering professional consultancy and advice, , and fostering collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
Your role extends to contributing to the ongoing development of the support model through:
Analysis, review, and evaluation.
Upholding best practices.
Ensuring quality service delivery to individuals with disabilities and complex needs.
Utilising evidence-based assessments.
Ensuring that support models align comprehensibly with the unique requirements of participants.
Supporting holistic and effective care strategies.
You will:
Work with participants, Service Coordinators, Positive Behaviour Support Practitioners, and frontline staff to support the implementation of PBS plans.
Work with Service Coordinators and other stakeholders to plan, develop and deliver Capacity Building supports for people with significant and often highly complex, therapeutic needs.
Work with Service Coordinators and other stakeholders to support skills development, teaching functional life skills: including communication, social, self-care, daily living, recreation, employment, and community skills.
Work with Service Coordinators and other stakeholders to ensure that supported decision making is core to all participant support.
Use evidence-based assessment tools to support model development and implementation.
Provide analysis, review and evaluation of plan implementation, goal attainment and active support to further develop the CLO individualised therapeutic model of support.
Develop resources to support PBS Implementation and Capacity Building activities.
To be successful: To thrive in this role, your experience will be instrumental in implementing, planning, reviewing, researching, and evaluating therapeutic modules tailored to individuals with disabilities and complex needs.
Your ability to adapt communication styles and employing effective strategies will enhance communication across various stakeholders. Collaborating effectively with internal departments and external stakeholders will ensure successful plan implementation within a person-centred active support framework.
You will need a clear understanding and experience in forensic disability. Utilising clinical reasoning and creative problem-solving techniques, you will conduct a range of evidence based assessments of complex participants. Your advanced understanding of Positive Behaviour Support, restrictive practices, person-centred active support principles and your ability to demonstrate leadership in their application will be evident. Moreover, your familiarity with supported decision-making principals will be an asset in this role.
In addition, you will have:
Tertiary qualifications that meet NDIS requirements for Developmental Educator including but limited to: Bachelor's degree in Disability & Developmental Education, Occupational Therapy, Psychology or equivalent.
Experience supporting people living with disabilities/mental health.
Current Driver's License
NDIS Clearance
Working with Children Clearance
Willing to obtain a Psychological Assessment if required.
Confidence using IT equipment - 'smart device' technology, Windows operating system, and Microsoft Office Suite
