Join us here at University of Canberra where we walk together to foster an inclusive and empowered community. Together, we endeavour to empower, connect, and exchange knowledge with our diverse people, cultures, and environments.

We stand firm and dedicated to upholding fundamental values such as inclusivity, honouring Indigenous cultures (Nurragunnawali), driving positive change, nurturing curiosity, and promoting collaborative efforts. We are committed to leading the national education sector in championing equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility via Connected – A Decadal Strategy 2023-2032

At the University of Canberra Research Institute for Sport and Exercise (UCRISE) and the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS), we are on a mission to advance our understanding of sports and exercise science. Our research publications are prolific, and our researchers and affiliated PhD students are responsible for over 100 publications annually. We are now seeking a dynamic Postdoctoral Fellow in Research Statistics to join our collaborative team.

This unique position offers a dynamic and dual-location opportunity, with equal placement at both the AIS in Canberra and the University of Canberra. As a Postdoctoral Fellow, you will provide essential statistical support to two key areas: UCRISE (approximately 50% of your time) and AIS-supported research projects (approximately 50% of your time). While flexibility is considered, you'll be expected to be physically present on both campuses for a minimum of 2 days a week at each site.

Join forces with UCRISE and AIS researchers where you will lead collaborative, high-calibre research studies with UCRISE and AIS researchers and mentor HDR students in applying advanced statistical methodologies. With your statistical skills, you'll turn numbers into impactful insights and champion analytical thinking while teaching postgraduate students, all while shaping the future of research at the AIS, Faculty of Health, and UCRISE.

To be considered:

  • You will need to possess a PhD in biostatistics, epidemiology, or statistics.
  • Demonstrate advanced skills in biostatistical analysis, including multiple regression, logistic regression, multi-level modelling, structural equation modelling, general additive mixed modelling, and Bayesian statistics.
  • Exhibit proficiency in using, writing, and teaching statistical programs such as Jamovi, SPSS, SAS, Stata, MLWin, and R.

  • Professional Development offerings (study assistance, corporate programs and discounts)
  • Innovative work environment with a diverse and inclusive culture
  • Access to Employee Assistance Program and a corporate private Health Plan (Bupa)

We warmly welcome Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander heritage, persons with disabilities, and those representing culturally diverse backgrounds to join us in creating a brighter, more inclusive future for all.
