The Role:

Reporting directly to the General Manager – Farming and a strong focus on biosecurity and proactive health management the prime objective of this position is to ensure poultry are healthy and productive by conducting regular health checks, diagnosing and treating illnesses, and creating effective vaccination programs. This role involves advising farmers on proper care, analysing health data to make improvements, staying updated on the latest research, performing regular audits, and working with industry experts to apply the best practices.

  • Conduct routine health checks and examinations on poultry to ensure their well-being
  • Diagnose and treat any illnesses or injuries that may arise among the poultry
  • Develop and implement vaccination programs for the poultry to prevent the spread of diseases
  • Provide guidance and advice to farmers and poultry owners on proper care and management of their flocks
  • Collect and analyse data on the health and productivity of poultry, and use this information to make recommendations on improvements including gut health checks for coccidiostats
  • Stay up-to-date with new developments and research in poultry health, and use this knowledge to improve practices and outcomes
  • Hands-on approach with regular in-house audits for continuous improvement
  • Collaborate with other veterinary professionals and poultry industry experts to develop and implement best practices for poultry health and welfare
  • Attention to detail with a keen focus on biosecurity

 About you:

  • A degree in veterinary medicine and a license to practice as a veterinarian in Australia
  • Specialization or experience in Broiler breeders and Broiler poultry health and management
  • Ability to diagnose and treat various poultry diseases and injuries
  • Knowledge of biosecurity, animal welfare, and food safety regulations related to poultry farming
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with poultry farmers and other stakeholders
  • Physical stamina and dexterity to handle and examine birds and perform surgeries when necessary
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills to develop effective treatment plans and prevent disease outbreaks
  • Willingness to stay updated on the latest industry trends, technologies, and research in the field of poultry medicine
