The Preventive and Population Policy team play a key role in reducing the number of people developing chronic disease in the ACT and in supporting people to live in good health at all stages of life. The team covers a broad range of exciting policy areas including organ and tissue donation, gene technology, cancer screening and delivery of the whole of government Healthy Canberra ACT Preventive Health Plan. The team also leads the work on preparing the ACT Chief Health Officer's Report that provides information about the health and wellbeing of the ACT population and identifies areas for improvement.
We are seeking to fill several positions in our team that will contribute to the policy areas and lead the work on the Chief Health Officer's Report. One permanent position and several temporary positions (for greater than 6 months) are available.
You will play a key role in providing strategic policy advice and will collaborate with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders across the ACT government, state and territory and Commonwealth health departments.
You will regularly prepare ministerial and executive briefings, correspondence and high-quality reports. This may include the Chief Health Officer's Report.
If you have excellent oral and written communication skills, strong organisational and project management skills, and the ability to provide strategic policy advice, one of these positions may suit you.
Eligibility/ Other Requirements: Relevant experience and/or tertiary qualifications in public health and/or health policy is desirable.
Note: A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months.
