About the role - The Primary Learning Leader is responsible for supporting high levels of engagement, learning progress and achievement of each student and enhances teacher capacity and effectiveness by role modelling high-quality teaching and learning, mentoring and coaching, professional learning, collaboration and cooperation.
The Primary Learning Leader has a pivotal role in supporting teachers and building collaborative relationships, working as part of a team to deliver improved educational outcomes for students consistent with the Brisbane Catholic Education Learning and Teaching Framework, Model of Pedagogy and key system strategies. The position contributes to major initiatives of the school and with progressing the priorities of the School Strategic Plan.

As a dynamic and innovative member of our school community, your accountabilities include:

  • As a member of the EYJY leadership team, supporting the day-to-day operation of the Prep – Year 6 campus.
  • Provide professional support in the use of data to track student progress at individual, cohort and whole school level, making modifications to improve student outcomes, and plan for further learning.
  • Promote consistent application of the Achievement Standards in evaluating student achievement.
  • Promote collaborative practices among staff to enhance pedagogy and planning.
  • Provide teachers with feedback on classroom pedagogy and planning
  • Promote adoption of effective whole-school teaching practices consistent with BCE strategies
  • Support teachers in the use of formative assessment to inform teaching and curriculum decision making
  • Facilitate an understanding of the literacy and numeracy demands and practices within each curriculum area
  • Promote explicit, planned teaching of literacy, numeracy and other curriculum areas as a means of supporting students’ development and engagement.
  • Monitor and analyse Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander student achievement data in literacy to accelerate literacy progress.
  • Recognise and support student engagement both academically and behaviourally.
  • Enhance teacher effectiveness and capacity to improve educational outcomes for students through demonstrating and promoting:equity, excellence and entitlement to learning for students,
    the development of teacher effectiveness and capacity,
    teaching and learning principles and practices enabling students to access and meet achievement standards,
    effective behaviour management practices and strategies aligned to the PB4L framework.
  • Create a nurturing and ordered learning environment which is learner-centred, safe, supportive, co-operative and aligned with relevant curriculum, policies and practices
  • Collaborate with your peers to develop and implement quality curriculum programs and appropriate pedagogy
  • Assess, provide feedback and report on student learning
  • Work with the school leadership team and colleagues to contribute to the professional life of the school
  • Proactively engage with professional learning to enhance student learning outcomes
  • Ensure that the teachings and values of the Catholic Church form a foundation for learning and teaching.

About you - To be successful in this role you will bring relevant qualifications and contemporary teaching experience as well as:

  • Strong literacy, numeracy and digital literacy practices plus a clear understanding of the Australian Curriculum
  • Commitment to child safety
  • Exemplary communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proven organisational skills
  • Commitment to engage with colleagues, students, and parents/carers to achieve the best outcomes
  • Demonstrated competence against the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers across professional knowledge, practice and engagement.

At BCE our teachers are required to:

  • Hold a current Queensland College of Teachers registration; and
  • Be eligible to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment.

If this role does not require you to teach Religious Education, you do not need to be Catholic.
