We're looking for an experienced results-driven officer with strong skills in strategic and innovative thinking to provide analysis and advice and lead the design and implementation of key initiatives to improve WHS in Queensland. This permanent role involves working with leadership and OIR Executive to lead the design, coordination, implementation and assurance of key initiatives to drive improved WHS outcomes in Queensland workplaces. This includes strategies, plans and policies and other targeted WHS initiatives.Key responsibilities include:
- Plan, develop, implement and evaluate multi-faceted regulatory strategies, plans and initiatives in line with OIR's key priorities and frameworks and intended outcomes.
- Assist in developing and managing innovative responses and solutions to identified risks by leading analysis and strategic advice and by applying contract processes and change management.
- Manage relationships with key stakeholders internal and external to OIR to ensure effective consultation and collaboration on regulatory initiatives and strategic advice to unit leaders, including high-level secretariat support for OIR's Work Health and Safety Executive (internal governance committee).
- Use research findings and information from other regulatory agencies to inform strategic thinking and planning processes, including research and evaluation, and assurance in the delivery of regulatory services.
- Conduct research, analysis and reporting on traditional and emerging health, safety and electrical issues to inform the development and implementation of high-level advice and solutions for identified risks.
- Distill complex information to prepare reports, correspondence, submissions, and briefing notes to provide advice for the Minister, Deputy Director-General or OIR senior executive.
- Model professional and ethical behaviour and actively participate in the promotion of a discrimination free workplace culture that values equity and diversity. Act in accordance with Queensland's Public Service Code of Conduct and relevant legislation.
- Take reasonable care for the health and safety of yourself and others, and comply and cooperate with all OIR WHS and wellbeing policies and procedures.
