An exciting opportunity exists to partner with the Student Child and Family Connect team in South East Region to oversee the Student Protection portfolio on a part-time basis beginning 05 February 2024 to 12 April 2024, unless otherwise determined.
This Principal AdvisorStudent Protection (PASP) role is offered at 0.2 FTE and 14.5 hours per fortnight. You will work closely with the existing PASP in supporting schools and Regional Office staff with Student Protection matters of both a proactive and emergent manner.
This role involves close communication with Child Safety and the strengthening of relationships across partner agencies.

About the Role:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Liaise regularly with key regional government and non-government agencies involved in the child protection service system and represent the region at state wide departmental and child protection forums, inter-governmental and inter-sectoral child protection meetings.
  • Provide the key point of contact for the region in relation to Student Protection activities and regularly link with government and non-government agencies involved in the child protection system including the Department of Children, Youth Justice and Multicultural Affairs, the Queensland Police Service, Queensland Health and Family and Child Connect.
  • Ensure that all school based and regional staff are trained in relation to Student Protection legislation, policies, procedures and reporting processes and clearly understand legislated and departmental reporting obligations.
  • Provide best practice advice to school based and regional staff on individual Student Protection matters, including reporting suspected harm, referral to early intervention and prevention services and sharing information in accordance with legislation and departmental policies.
