Job description

Reporting to the General Manager, Study Queensland & Migration Queensland, you will manage, co-ordinate and/or monitor all major significant projects, reporting processes and policy initiatives (in conjunction with SQ/MQ policy teams), on behalf of the General Manager.
You will also provide strategic administration and advisory support, lead and manage business activities relevant to the team and provide high-level co-ordination of correspondence for the General Manager.

About the business unit
The Study Queensland & Migration Queensland division, housed within TIQ, plays a crucial role in attracting and growing Queensland's global talent. Study Queensland is responsible for fostering sustainable growth in Queensland's international education and training sector, working in collaboration with schools, TAFE, private colleges, English language providers, and universities. Migration QLD actively participates in the Commonwealth Government's State Nominated visa program, sponsoring skilled and business migrants to invest and create employment opportunities in Queensland and to address in-demand occupations in various QLD industries. Migration Queensland is also responsible for delivering a Skilled Workforce Attraction Office (SWAO), a new initiative under the ‘Good people. Good jobs: Queensland Workforce Strategy 2022- 2023'.
Your contribution (key responsibilities and accountabilities)
To be successful in this role you will:

  • Lead and manage the business planning activities for the Study Queensland & Migration Queensland units in accordance with relevant practices including managing efficient business systems, processes budget and financial management.
  • Manage, plan, co-ordinate and/or monitor major significant projects, reporting processes and policy initiatives on behalf of the General Manager and in conjunction with SQ/MQ policy teams.
  • Research, prepare and/or coordinate and review submissions, briefing notes, reports and correspondence on complex issues, key business priorities and operational issues including matters for discussion with the TIQ Board, Minister and other key public and private sector stakeholders.
  • Provide administrative and advisory support to the General Manager with regard to incoming correspondence and preparation for meetings.
  • Lead and oversee day-to-day operations of the directorate support team ensuring that Study and Migration Queensland teams are well supported.
  • Provide written and verbal advice and communications on strategy and reporting activities to high-level stakeholders including Ministers, the TIQ Board and TIQ senior management.
  • Prepare and/or co-ordinate reports, ministerial correspondence, board information papers, submissions, briefing notes and correspondence on a range of corporate issues.
  • Represent TIQ at stakeholder meetings as required, and apply high-level negotiating and influencing skills to gain consensus and support from people with differing views.
  • Identify and implement business improvement initiatives and innovative approaches to increase effectiveness.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication strategies, protocols, stakeholder negotiation and liaison activities across cultures and other private and public sector organisations.
